Our aim is delicious family food which is easy to prepare, not too expensive and both kids and adults enjoy.
Food and meal plans are based around the Australian guidelines of healthy eating. https://www.eatforhealth.gov.au/guidelines/australian-guide-healthy-eating
These recipes and meal plans are ideas, and ways to incorporate extra vegetables into your kids life but are no substitute for professional tailored advice. For specific guidelines relating to your own personal health please consult a dietician/nutritionist.
Eating seasonally means colourful food which keeps mealtime interesting, lowers the grocery bill and keeps the nutritional content high.
You might notice our food is low on the fodmap scale. While not officially ‘fodmap friendly’, our food is low in garlic and onions. There is a bit of irritable bowel issue in the family, and just reducing the garlic and onion to a minimum, seems to be enough without impacting us all too much. So you will notice garlic and onion are never ingredients in a meal, however spring onion will be on occasion (the green tops seem to be low irritant). I do not cut out pre-made curry pastes or stock cubes although these generally do tend to have some small amounts of both onion and garlic.
Dessert recipes? Exactly. Eating dessert, is part of the good life, and makes up part of childhood memories. However obviously in moderation! Read special occasions or Sundays, definitely not daily.
